About Reid
Hello, I’m Reid MacDonald, some may know me as Reid McFarland, and others as reidmix. I love independent music and am a geek. My goal in life is to become a full-time published writer and novelist and whatever good may come from that.
This blog is a place to share my published or performed works which I hope will continue to grow. I love words and coining phrases, esp. if they make people laugh or think in a different way. Finally, I’d like anything that inspires my writing and I intend to share any stories, microfiction, musings, thoughts and ideas on this blog.
I grew up in Florida before spending my formative years in the Caribbean, which I hated at the time. After my time in the British Virgin Islands and the Dominican Republic, I dropped out of college in Massachusetts and began my life as a programmer. I moved to California during the dotcom boom and survived the bust.
Currently I live in Los Angeles and am making my plans and transition to become a full-time writer. My favorite authors have been Jeff Noon, Iain Banks, and Michael Marshall Smith. If I had to choose a path to follow, I’d love to write stories like Kurt Vonnegut, who I’ve been transformed many times by his stories. These days, I’m loving Chuck Palahniuk and David Mitchell’s writing.
